We Can All Agree: Taking Transit to the Crosstown Classic is the way to go!

June 18, 2019

SCH 8239

Summer in Chicago means heading to the ballpark to catch a game—sometimes that means to a local park to cheer on your kids or neighbors and sometimes it means cheering on the Cubs or the Sox.  Northside or Southside, Anderson or Baez…cheering on your team is part of what makes our region great.  Just like our public transportation system.

Today, the Crosstown Classic between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox begins with two games at Wrigley Field. The rivalry moves south in July with two more games at Guaranteed Rate Field in July. It’s a time where everyone wears their team’s hats and jerseys (and lately sweatshirts and hoodies!) with pride no matter where the game is.

Whichever team you cheer for, we can all agree on taking public transit to the game. Take the CTA Red Line to Addison for the games at Wrigley and to Sox-35th stop for the games at Guaranteed Rate. There’s Pace shuttle buses from the suburbs to both Sox and Cubs parks. You can ride Metra in from the suburbs to the city and transfer to the CTA.  It’s the best way to avoid parking costs and beat the traffic.  Stay warm and take transit!

Don’t just take it from us, the next generation of riders agree that taking transit is the best way to get to the game! Check out this short video and be on the lookout for many more “opposites” who can agree on public transportation.  If you “disagree” with someone, but you “agree to take transit”, let us know at communications@rtachicago.org. Record your own blog post and maybe we’ll share it here.
