Today we announced the opening of the public comment period for twelve projects proposed as part of the Section 5310 Program of Projects. The Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program (Section 5310) aims to improve mobility for seniors and individuals with disabilities by removing barriers to transportation service and expanding transportation mobility options. This program supports transportation services planned, designed, and carried out to meet the special transportation needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities. The RTA and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are co-designated recipients of Section 5310 funding for Northeastern Illinois.

The comment period ends on July 31, 2017, and the recommended Program of Projects will be presented to the RTA Board for consideration on August 24, 2017. Public comments on these projects may be submitted at the following e-mail address: section5310@rtachicago.org. More information on specific proposals can be found on the RTA website by clicking here.  The projects are proposed to receive a total of $8.5 million in Federal Section 5310, Fiscal Year 2016 and 2017 funding.
