Today, the RTA staff celebrated Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day by “working” with our children. We took transit around downtown, showing the kids how easy it is to take transit to Chicago’s sites.  We held a “mock” board meeting, during which each child got to vote on transit-related items and learned about our regional system. Below is a summary of today from my 7 year old son’s perspective.

I really like riding trains and buses because it’s just a fun thing because they usually go faster than cars and we get to see so many new people. Today, we went on a scavenger hunt on transit to sites around downtown Chicago. I like how we also walked around a lot because I don’t usually get that much exercise. Moving on to the next thing.  I liked doing the (mock) board meeting because we could use the microphones; it’s fun to use them because usually you don’t use them.  And I like that everyone could read and participate and that you get a discount on the trains and buses if you are a kid.
