The RTA board recently approved funding for the continuation of ten projects that help ensure older adults and residents with disabilities have access to mobility services.     These ten projects are partially funded by the federal government through the Section 5310 Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities Program.

Part of the RTA’s role is to administer this program, comprised of $7,296,129– $4,259,555 in federal funds and $3,036,574 in local matches provided by project sponsors– to improve and increase mobility for older adults and people with disabilities.

These projects span the region and do everything from coordinate paratransit service in Kane County to provide persons with disabilities with greater opportunities to obtain and maintain employment through affordable transportation in DuPage County. Other projects expand the dial-a-ride system in Lake County and provide mobility management services in Will County. To learn about each of the ten projects, click here to read the press release.

At the RTA, we’re proud to play a role in helping local governments and non-profits provide these valuable services.
