Let’s play public transportation jeopardy.

Answer:  The national average is 26.4 minutes.

Question: What is the average commute time in the USA according to new U.S. Census survey estimates?

And, in case you’re wondering, the average Illinois commute is nearly a half hour each way, a full 28.8 minutes.  Yes, worse than the national average. New Yorkers have it the worst with a 33.1 minute average commute and South Dakotans have it best, with an average 16.6 minute commute.

For commuters in the RTA region, commutes can mean reading a book, safely texting or just relaxing!  Take back that hour every day. The regional transportation system can be a commuter’s best friend!  Ride On.
