It’s National Anti-Boredom Month (yawn) so we’ve got some great ideas on how you can kick your boredom blues! Take transit and explore the region!  Public transportation offers a fast and convenient way to get around the region and you can avoid sitting in traffic or paying for parking.

Sitting in traffic can be boring and frustrating but if you jump on bus or train, you can safely text and email.  Not boring at all.  Not to mention the road rage you can avoid!

Riders can easily use the RTA’s Trip Planner to plan travel and select routes with ADA accessible services, when necessary.  It is the only online site in the region that provides a variety of options for getting around by using transit, walking, bicycling and driving. Go ahead and fan the flames of fun. Check out some of these featured weekend events:


  • Kane County Fair - Celebrating its 148th year, this family fun-filled event will take place at the Kane County fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Rd., St. Charles until July 24. This year’s event will be complete with a variety of attractions including, a petting zoo, carnival, entertainment and delicious fare. Learn more about Kane County Fair.
  • Grant Park Music Festival – Enjoy this outdoor classical music series at Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St., Chicago, that will run until August 20. The rear seats are free, or bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Learn more about the Grant Park Music Festival.
  • Taste of River North - Get your taste buds ready for delicious fare from some of the area's best restaurants, and watch performances from up-and-coming artists.
