Participating in Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day tomorrow?   Ride the region's public transportation system!  “I take transit,” is the new “hold my calls!”  It represents a part of our work lives.  Let’s share it with the next generation of workers.

This annual event, which initially started as a self-esteem building initiative for girls sponsored by the Ms. Foundation before it transitioned to include sons,  allows a child to see what their parents do at work and encourages them to think about what they may want to do when they grow up.

Our future workforce is used to texting and scrolling throughout the day.  They will certainly understand the benefits to taking a train or bus instead of sitting behind the wheel—even if they’re not tall enough to touch the pedals.  As Governing Magazine says in this month’s edition, “ …public transportation today is not square. In fact, it’s quite the opposite—it’s hip.”

If your employer participates in the RTA's Transit Benefit Fare Program, you're saving as much as $255 in pre-tax benefits to commute to work which means more money to spend on your son or daughter. Now that’s music to their ears that they’d definitely download!
